Rimulo is a right-click utility for macOS Finder: in the folders you authorize, it puts creating files, copying information, opening here, copying and moving directly into the context menu. Requires macOS 14 or later.
The menu doesn't appear after installing
Two steps are required, and both are necessary:
First, enable the Finder extension. Finder's context menu comes from a system extension, and it is off by default. Open Rimulo and use the button on the welcome screen to jump straight to the extension switch in System Settings, then tick Rimulo.
Second, add at least one workspace. Rimulo works only in folders you have authorized. On the Locations page, add a folder you use often — Downloads, or a project folder.
With both done, right-click inside that folder (or any subfolder) and Rimulo's actions appear directly in the menu. If they still don't, go to Rimulo's Overview page and click Check Again.
What is a workspace, and why do I need one?
A workspace is a folder you allow Rimulo to work in. The macOS sandbox requires an app to access only locations the user picks personally — that is both a system requirement and a guarantee that you always know which files Rimulo can reach. Remove a workspace and the authorization goes back to the system.
What's the difference between Copy To and Move To?
Both send the selected items to a destination you configured on the Locations page. The difference: copying keeps the original; moving deletes it once the transfer succeeds.
Copying never overwrites an existing file. Across volumes, moving follows a strict order — copy, verify, delete the source. If verification fails the source is always kept; if the source cannot be deleted, the results view marks it "Source kept" so you can deal with it yourself.
What if an item of the same name already exists?
Choose a policy in Settings: Keep Both adds a numbered copy (such as "Report 2.txt"); Skip leaves that item alone and continues with the rest. Rimulo offers no Replace — no action of its own ever overwrites a file you already have.
After each copy or move, the Overview page shows per-item results; click View Details to see where every file went.
What if Open in Terminal does not open a window?
Rimulo opens the selected folder with the system Terminal app. It does not send Apple Events or request Automation permission. If Terminal cannot be opened, Rimulo copies an equivalent cd command to the clipboard so you can paste it into your preferred terminal.
Open in VS Code isn't in the menu
That item appears only when Visual Studio Code is installed. Rimulo doesn't grey out actions you can't use — it leaves them out, so everything you see in the menu is something that will actually run right now.
Can I change which actions appear?
Yes. On the Context Menu page, click Customize Menu. Drag to reorder, drop actions into a group, or drag them into Hidden to leave them out entirely. New groups can be named however you like. Save, and the Finder menu refreshes on its own.
What are new files named?
They use a default name — "Untitled.txt" in English, "未命名.txt" in Chinese. If that name is taken, Rimulo tries "Untitled 2.txt" and so on. It never overwrites an existing file.
Where are my settings stored?
Workspaces, destinations, and the menu layout live in Rimulo's own container, shared between the app and the Finder extension. Uninstalling removes them; your files are untouched.
System requirements
macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. The interface is available in English and Simplified Chinese, following your system language.
