Roam

Last updated: 2026-07-15

Roam is a native macOS location simulation tool for Android devices. Privacy is a core design principle of Roam.

Fully Offline · No Data Collection

Roam does not collect, receive, or upload any of your data. We have no servers, no cloud backend, and we do not upload anything. All route creation, location simulation, and device communication takes place entirely on your local devices. Communication with the Android Companion occurs exclusively over a local TCP connection via USB + ADB port forwarding—data never leaves the physical link between your computer and your phone.

Your Data

Routes you create, waypoints, movement mode preferences, and ADB path settings are all stored locally on your Mac. The Android Companion receives route coordinate data only during active simulation playback; this data is cleared when playback stops and is not persisted.

Maps: Apple MapKit

Roam uses Apple MapKit for map search and route directions. When you use the map search, Apple's MapKit services may process your search queries and IP address according to their privacy policy. Roam itself does not transmit or store this data.

You can manage MapKit permissions in macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.

ADB & Android Device Interaction

Roam communicates with connected Android devices through the adb command-line tool. Communication is limited to:

  • Detecting connected devices
  • Installing/upgrading the Companion APK
  • Setting up ADB port forwarding for TCP communication

Roam does not read files, contacts, photos, or other personal data from your phone.

No Analytics, No Ads, No Tracking

Roam contains no analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party crash reporters. It does not track you across apps or websites.

Network

Roam does not require an internet connection for normal operation. Network requests may only occur when:

  • Using map search (Apple MapKit services)
  • Requesting route directions (Apple MKDirections services)

These requests target only Apple's MapKit infrastructure and do not involve Roam developer servers.

Purchases & Licensing

Roam is currently a free tool and does not involve any purchase flow. If a paid version is introduced in the future, data handling and payment processing details will be clearly disclosed before purchase.

Diagnostic Information

Information in the Diagnostics panel (device model, Android version, ADB status, etc.) is for your local troubleshooting only. When you choose "Copy Diagnostics," device serial numbers and user directory paths are automatically redacted. This information is only shared with support if you actively choose to send it.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete created routes and waypoints at any time. Uninstalling Roam removes all local settings and route data. Uninstalling the Android Companion removes all residual data from your phone.

Children

Roam is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Policy Changes

We may update this policy, and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
